Canna 'South Pacific'

This compact, vigorous plants, bloom with very showy scarlet blossoms. They can reach 4 to 5 feet high in the garden, and shorter in containers. Easy to grow and tolerant of heavy soils and thrives in all conditions but drought. Generous watering will promote heavier flowering and keep the foliage lush. They look great in the garden and make very nice, easy to maintain container plants.

Plant in the garden in soil that is amended with compost and a good all purpose fertilizer for the best, most vigorous growth. For containers, use fresh potting soil and water regularly. Feed once a month with a good liquid, all purpose fertilizer.

Cannas will die back in the winter and come back each season more full and vigorous than before. Protect the roots from frost with a thick mulch. When they start to regrow in the spring, fertilize right away to encourage vigorous new growth, and protect them from snails!
