Tomato 'Red Pear'

Harvest when skin feels tough and squash are fully yellow.

Winter Squash 'Bush Delicata'

This variety has a compact, bushy habit that produces good yields of 8 inch squash. Oblong-shaped squash are creamy white with green stripes and flecks. The flesh is smooth with a sweet nutty flavor. Harvest when skin feels tough and can resist being punctured with a fingernail.

Poppy 'Double Scarlet'

German Chamomile

Chamomile is one of the most popular herbs. It is most commonly used as a relaxing tea, but has many other uses. The tiny daisy-like flowers of German chamomile are less than an inch wide, growing on long, thin, light green stems. It can reach up to 3 feet high. German chamomile is native to Europe, north Africa, and some parts of Asia.

Plant in full sun to partial shade in ordinary garden soil, spacing each cluster of seedlings 8-10 inches apart. Water regularly until the roots establish, then let soil dry a little between watering.

German Chamomile is an annual herb which will reseed each year. Harvest flowers when they are fully open, then let dry in a cool, ventilated area. Store dried flowers in an airtight container. To make tea, pour 1 cup of boiling water over 2 - 3 heaping Tbs. of dried flowers, steep 10 - 15 minutes.

Watermelon 'Super Gold'

Large, oblong melons have sweet, yellow interior. Disease resistant, 80 days to mature. Vines grow to 6 feet and require a lot of heat to produce fruit, so plant them in the most warm and sunny spot in the garden.

Plant in full sun, in soil amended with compost and a good vegetable fertilizer. Water regularly, but do not over water while fruit is ripening. Contrary to their name, watermelons grow best and ripen the sweetest fruit if they are not over watered.

Harvest when fruits are full size and the stem easily pulls off of the vine. Raise ripening fruit off of the ground with pieces of wood or place on a bed of straw to prevent them from rotting.

Bush Bean 'Maxibel'

A specialty french filet bean with tender, 7 inch pods that develop quickly on bushy plants. Plants grow to 18-24 inches tall and do not need to be trellised.

Echinacea purpurea 'Starlight'

Starlight's 3" flowers have a brightly colored rosy petals held around orange centers. These vigorous blooming plants are sensational in mid-summer garden. Echinacea has gained wide acceptance as a therapeutic herb. Its leaves and roots are processed as an effective immune system tonic to ward off and ease symptoms of colds and flu.

Plant in full sun to partial shade. Echinacea will grow in ordinary garden soil but will be most vigorous and bloom the longest in soil that is amended with compost and a good all purpose fertilizer.

Echinacea is a hardy perennial. The leaves will die back in the winter then come back more full each new season. Canna 'South Pacific'

This compact, vigorous plants, bloom with very showy scarlet blossoms. They can reach 4 to 5 feet high in the garden, and shorter in containers. Easy to grow and tolerant of heavy soils and thrives in all conditions but drought. Generous watering will promote heavier flowering and keep the foliage lush. They look great in the garden and make very nice, easy to maintain container plants.

These deep, dark, velvety flowered Nasturtium are very easy to grow and a fine choice for containers or garden beds. The plant remains fairly compact, giving you lush flowers and foliage on a non-invasive habit.

Plant hollyhocks in full sun, in soil that is amended with compost and a good all purpose flower fertilizer. Once established, they can take some drought. It is best to water them in the morning so that the leaves can dry out during the day.

Rosemary 'Barbeque'

It is fun to use the long straight stems as barbeque skewers. Just cut off stems that are not too thick and woody. Sprinkle with olive oil and sea salt and throw on the barbeque or bake them. The taste of the vegetables will be amazing!!

Artichoke 'Green Globe'

The original improved artichoke, Green Globe flowers in early summer. The flower buds are deep green with a light purple tinge. A good harvest of 3-4 heads can be expected throughout the summer. They are 3-5 inches in diameter and have wonderfully thick, flavorful hearts. Proven to be the most hardy and remain productive for at least 5 years.

Harvest when fruits are fully red and slightly soft to the touch. The tomates are great eaten raw right out of the garden. They are also tasty in salads and make a great pasta sauce.

Mina Lobata 'Exotic Love Vine'

This gorgeous, fast growing, annual vine couldn’t be easier to grow! Quickly reaching 10’ or more, it solidly blankets a trellis or fence with nice large leaves. Next, spikes of 5” flower spikes with scarlet, orange, yellow and cream flowers bloom for months.

Plant this vine in full sun in soil amended with compost. Water regularly.

At the end of the season, seeds can be collected from the dried flower spikes to sow the next season. Plants may also self-sows to return the next year.
