Radicchio is a cold hardy variety that produces compact heads with deep red, tightly packed leaves. Plant in full sun or in soil amended with plenty of compost. Feed with a high nitrogen fertilizer for sweet and flavorful leaves. Water regularly.
Planting your 6 pack: Plant each seedling 8-10 inches apart. Water in after planting.
Harvest when heads are fully formed and firm to the touch. Radicchio is great in a salad mix with a sweet, citrus dressing. It may also be brushed with olive oil and grilled, or added to rice and pasta dishes.
