Golden Oregano 'Aureum'

A perennial herb with pink to lavender flowers in the summer. It has a spreading habit and grows 6-12 inches tall. Spreads less vigorously than the species. Grows well in moderately fertile soil and is drought tolerant. Use as an edging plant around a vegetable garden or in perennial borders

A useful culinary herb that can be used fresh or dried especially in Italian dishes. Leaves and flowers may be harvested and dried, and stored in an air tight container.

Cosmos sulphureus ‘Sunny Red’

Produces masses of bright tangerine-red single blooms on bushy 2 foot plants. 'Sunny Red' makes an eye-catching display and is so easy to grow. Blooming from midsummer until frost, their silky blooms and lacy foliage looks great in sunny beds, borders, background plantings and indoor bouquets.

Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Purple Double’

Big, deep purple puff ball flowers are abundant on these tall, lacy plants. They will bloom from midsummer until frost. They look great in sunny garden beds and make a great cut flower.

Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Seashells Rose’

Zucchini 'Romanesco'

Plant zucchini in full sun, in soil that is amended with compost and a good organic fertilizer. Water regularly to keep these vigorous plant producing sweet and tender squash. Space plants at least 2 feet apart to give them plenty of room.

Harvest when squash are still small, while the skin is still tender and the seeds inside are undeveloped for the best flavor.

Summer squash are delicious tossed with fresh herbs and oven roasted. Also try sauteeing them with butter and garlic.

Patty Pan Squash

Plant patty pan squash in full sun, in soil that is amended with compost and a good organic fertilizer. Water regularly to keep these vigorous plant producing sweet and tender squash. Space plants at least 1 1/2 feet apart to give them plenty of room.

Harvest when squash are still small, while the skin is still tender and the seeds inside are undeveloped for the best flavor.

Summer squash are delicious tossed with olive oil and fresh herbs then oven roasted. They are also delicious sauteed with butter and garlic. Try slicing some ¼ inch thick and frying until crispy like chips.

Amaranth 'Love Lies Bleeding'

Heirloom amaranth are very unusual and showy plants. Brilliant red seed heads dangle like dreadlocks from the tops of sturdy, 3-5 ft plants. They hold their color a long time, and are great in arrangements.

Plant in soil amended with compost and water regularly. Space plants 8-10 inches apart. They look great in a garden border with sunflowers.

Nasturtium 'Whirlybird Mix'

Bright, colorful Nasturtium are very easy to grow and a fine choice for containers or garden beds. The plant remains fairly compact, giving you lush flowers and foliage on a non-invasive habit. This mix contains rose, red, orange, gold, and cream blooms.

Plant nasturtium in ordinary garden soil in full sun. Soil that is too rich can cause nasturtium to be very leafy and not bloom as well.

The edible flowers have a spicy and sweet flavor. They brighten up salads and make a pretty garnish for any dish.

Sunflower 'Pro Cut Yellow Lite'

Tall, non-branching plants that are great for garden borders and for cut flowers. Height, 5 feet tall.

Sunflower 'Super Snack Seed'

This sunflower produces extremely large seeds to crack for snacks. The plants are only 5 ft. tall and produce a single medium-sized (10") flower. The color pattern is classic yellow-gold with dark centers. Attracts Butterflies.

It is helpful to cover the ripening seed heads with a thin paper bag to keep the birds from the seeds.

Morning Glory 'Blue Ensign'

Very easy to grow mounding plants covered with vivid, true blue flowers from midsummer until frost. Related to the common vining Morning Glory. Dwarf plants are ideal in sunny borders, hanging baskets and patio planters.

Plant in full sun in soil amended with compost. Established plants can tolerate drier soils, but will grow and bloom to their fullest with regular watering. Space clusters of seedlings 8 inches apart. Height is 6-12 inches tall.

Zinnia Elegans

Zinnia elegans are large flowering, annual plants for warm weather. Plant in full sun, in soil amended with compost and a good, all purpose fertilizer. Established plants can tolerate drier soils, but will grow and bloom to their fullest with regular watering. Height is 3-4 ½ feet tall.

Planting your 6 pack: Space seedlings 10 inches apart and water well.

Zinnias make wonderful, long lasting cut flowers. Cut flowers with a long stem and put into water immediately. They look great in an arrangement with sunflowers. Keeping spent flowers trimmed from the plants keeps them blooming longer.

Sunflower 'Moulin Rouge'

Moulin Rouge is a stunning, true red sunflower. The multi-branching plants make a dramatic accent in beds, borders and arrangements.

Sunflower 'Chianti'

Chianti is the deepest red sunflower with wine-red velvet petals with gold flecks. Flowers are 3-4" across on 4-5 ft plants. Multiple branched and purple-stemmed, it's dramatic in the garden. Makes a nice cut flower.

Romano Pole Bean

Beautiful long flat pods develop quickly on these tall vining plants. Harvest before seeds inside begin to appear.

They are very versatile and can be used like any green bean. Try them sauteed with tomatoes and garlic, they are delicious!

Pole Bean 'Gita"

A widely adapted version of an Asian subtropical specialty. Very thin and graceful 16-20 inch long pods are stringless and very sweet.

Plant in full sun in well amended soil, and water regularly. Grow these vigorous vines on a tall trellis Harvest before the seeds inside start to develop.

They are very versatile and can be used like any green bean. Stir fry quickly with a little garlic and ginger, they are delicious!

Peppers 'Sweet Banana'

These peppers are very early to produce and very prolific. The long, light yellow peppers are sweet in flavor. Leave some on the plant to mature to red with even more intense flavor.

Plant in full sun in soil that has been amended with compost and a good organic vegetable fertilizer. Space plants 2 feet apart. These heavy bearing plants may be supported with a tomato cage or sturdy stakes with twine to keep them from falling over from the weight of the peppers.

Harvest when peppers lose their greenish tinge and are fully yellow. They are great for pan frying alone or with some savory sausage, or stuff some with cheese and bread crumbs and bake, then sprinkle with fresh herbs. They may also be pickled and canned.

Heirloom Tomato 'Black Krim"

Black Krim is an unique and extremely tasty, very dark maroon heirloom beefsteak tomato. This variety originated in Crimea, an island peninsula in the Black Sea . These large vines grow vigorously to 6-7 feet, and medium sized fruit has a wonderfully rich flavor.

Plant in full sun in soil that has been amended with compost and a good organic fertilizer that is not too high in nitrogen. Support these heavily bearing plants with a tall, sturdy tomato cage.

Harvest when fruit are a deep mahogany color and slightly soft to the touch. The taste is fantastic so excellent eaten fresh in salads or in slices on a sandwich.

Sugar Pie Pumpkin

These sweet flavored pumpkins are great for baking and pie making. Each vine will produce 3-5 nice round 4-8 lb pumpkins.

Plant these large vines in full sun, in soil amended with compost and a good vegetable fertilizer. Give them plenty of space, each plant needs about 6 feet.

Harvest when the skin is tough and they are fully deep orange. They are great for making amazing pumpkin pie or even a blended pumpkin soup.

Pumpkin 'Grower's Giant'

Giant pumpkins are a fun and rewarding variety to grow. These pumpkins can easily reach 150 pounds or larger. They have a nice shape and a deep orange color.

Plant these large vines in full sun, in soil amended with compost and a good vegetable fertilizer. Give them plenty of space, each plant needs about 8 feet.

To get the largest pumpkin possible, pick off all but 1 fruit when they are about softball size. If you just let them produce as they will, they will get about 3 good sized pumpkins per plant. Harvest when the skin is tough and fully colored up. Elevate the pumpkin up onto a square of plywood before it gets too heavy to prevent it from rotting.

Lettuce 'Tango'

Lettuce 'Tango' is a fast growing variety that produces very large, fluffy heads of bright green, wavy leaves. Plant in full sun or partial shade in soil amended with plenty of compost, and feed with a high nitrogen fertilizer.

Planting your 6 pack: Space each 10-12 inches apart, and water in after planting.

Harvest by picking individual leaves letting it re-grow from the center or by cutting off the entire head at the base when they are well filled out. The sweet leaves add a striking texture salads.

Pepper 'Corno di Toro'

These long, red sweet peppers are very flavorful. Plants will grow to about 24-30 inches tall and benefit being supported by stakes once they are bearing fruit.

Plant in full sun in soil that is well amended with compost and fertilizer. Water regularly to encourage vigorous growth.

Harvest when peppers are fully sized up and deep red, about 6-8 inches long. They are great roasted or even raw in salads or with dip.

Tomato 'Manitoba'

This slicer was developed in Manitoba, Canada, to ripen during the short summers of the Manitoba prairie. A vigorous shorter variety, it bears heavy yields of 3-4 inch crimson red fruit with a refreshing, tangy tomato taste. Great for slicing or for canning. One of the more productive early heirlooms.

Plant in full sun in soil that has been amended with compost and a good organic fertilizer that is not too high in nitrogen. Space plants 3 feet apart. This is a bushy variety that does not need staking.

Harvest when fruit is fully red and slightly soft to the touch.

Tomato 'Amish Paste'

Heirloom tomato with Bright red 8-12 ounce fruits that vary in shape from heart shaped to rounded plum. Delicious sweet flesh is juicy and meaty, excellent for sauce or eating fresh . One of Slow Food USA’s Ark of Taste varieties. Plants will grow to 5-7 feet tall.

Plant in full sun in soil that has been amended with compost and a good organic fertilizer that is not too high in nitrogen. Space plants 3 feet apart. Support these tall, heavily bearing plants with a sturdy tomato cage.

Harvest when fruit are bright red and slightly soft to the touch. Excellent eaten fresh in salads and can also be use to make a great pasta sauce. Amish Paste tomato may also be canned to preserve for later use.

Tomato 'Japanese Black Trifele'

‘Japanese Black Trifele’ yields prolific quantities of 6 oz. fruit that looks like a beautiful mahogany-colored Bartlett pear with greenish shoulders. Very tasty flesh with a meaty core that produces luscious fruit all summer long. A work of art sliced out on a plate and a wonderful flavor with rich and complex flavors. The Black Trifele is one of the blackest varieties available and is resistant to cracking.

Plant in full sun in soil that has been amended with compost and a good organic fertilizer that is not too high in nitrogen. Space plants 3 feet apart. Support these 5 foot tall, heavily bearing plants with a sturdy tomato cage.

Harvest when fruits are slightly soft to the touch, fully colored up and the shoulders are a little green.

Tomato 'Black Prince'

An outstanding juicy heirloom tomato with warm, rich colors and robust, full-bodied flavor. Originally introduced in Russia, this tall plant produces quite well in cooler regions. Medium-sized fruit reach approximately 2 inches across with mahogany skin, green shoulders and green and red striped flesh.

Plant in full sun in soil that has been amended with compost and a good organic fertilizer that is not too high in nitrogen. Space plants 3 feet apart. Support these 5-6 foot tall, heavily bearing plants with a sturdy tomato cage.

Harvest when fruits are slightly soft to the touch, fully colored up. They are beautiful in large slices on a plate sprinkled with fresh herbs, olive oil and vinegar.

Tomato 'Yellow Pear'

A garden favorite that bears 100’s of small, sweet yellow tomatoes in clusters on long branches. These large plants grow to 6-7 feet tall and are vigorous and disease resistant.

Plant in full sun in soil that is amended with compost and an organic fertilizer that is not too high in nitrogen. Support these large plants with tall tomato cages and space plants at least 3 feet apart.

Harvest when fruits are fully Yellow. The sugary sweet fruit are great eaten fresh right out of the garden. They are also tasty in salads and can even be made into a pasta sauce.

Tomato 'Red Pear Piriform'

Pear shaped, 7-9 oz. fruits with ribbed shoulders. Old fashioned, juicy, with a sweet flavor. Harvest when shoulders are still green. From Liguria, Piedmonte, and Abruzzo regions of Italy.

Tomato 'Clarance'

Clarance is one of the highest yielding large cluster tomatoes. Fruits have a deep red shiny color that remain firmly attached to the truss. Clarance has moderate vigor and very good disease resistance. Great flavor, good production and a proven variety.

Plant in full sun in soil that has been amended with compost and a good organic fertilizer that is not too high in nitrogen. Space plants 3 feet apart. Support these 5-6 foot tall, heavily bearing plants with a sturdy tomato cage.

Harvest when fruits are slightly soft to the touch, fully red. The entire cluster can be cut from the plant, keeping the fruits connected to the vine to ripen further. Do not store tomatoes in the refrigerator! The cold temps cause the sugars to turn to starch and they lose flavor.

Container Tomato 'Balconi Yellow'

These very compact plants are great for containers and even hanging baskets. They would even be an interesting accent to garden borders as an edible/ornamental plant. They grow to about 12-inches tall, and the fruits are a large cherry size.

In containers use fresh, good quality potting soil. Supplement plants every few weeks with a liquid fertilizer to keep plants green and producing nicely. Eggplant 'Black Beauty'

An open-pollinated Italian eggplant with high yields and no spines. Large bell-shaped fruits range from 1-3 lbs and have a slightly lobed skin. Medium to thick skin is deep purple, and glossy when mature.

Eggplants want full sun and very warm conditions for best production. Amend soil with plenty of compost and a good organic vegetable fertilizer. Space plants 1.5 feet apart and water regularly.

Harvest when fruits are full size and slightly soft to the touch. Use in any of your favorite eggplant recipes. They are delicious in thick slices simply brushed with olive oil, sprinkled with salt and herbs and baked, or go all out with the Eggplant Parmesan!

Eggplant 'Snowy White'

Eggplant Snowy White is an elegant plant that bears beautiful white fruits with a medium to thick skin and delicate sweet, buttery flavor. Snowy white has a texture that is firmer and meatier than most varieties. It holds up well in cooking. Fruits average 2.5 x 7" with a nice green top. Plants are upright and sturdy.

Eggplants want full sun and very warm conditions for best production. Amend soil with plenty of compost and a good organic vegetable fertilizer. Space plants 1.5 feet apart and water regularly.
