Foliage of this rosemary variety has especially good flavor and aroma for cooking. Strong, straight stems make perfect barbecue skewers! Fast growing, upright shrub with profuse, clear blue flowers. Takes to pruning well, and makes a nice hedge. Evergreen.
Plant rosemary in full sun in ordinary garden soil. Water regularly until plants are established, then it may take some drought. Amend the soil with some compost in the spring to encourage new stems to grow.
It is fun to use the long straight stems as barbeque skewers. Just cut off stems that are not too thick and woody. Take tomatoes, squash, peppers, mushrooms and other vegetables, poke a hole through them with a chop stick, then skewer them with the rosemary branch, leaves and all. Sprinkle with olive oil and sea salt and throw on the barbeque or bake them. The taste of the vegetables will be amazing!!
